Lewis Hine was a Sociologist and Photographer. He was born on September 26, 1874 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He went to the university of Chicago, New York, and Columbia. Although he was able to do anything he wanted he put most of his time changing the child labour laws in America with a camera. From 1904 to 1909 he would go to factories and take pictures of children working in the harsh conditions with no break for almost 20 hours at a time. He took about 200 in that amount of time. Eventually Lewis accomplished his dream as children in factories were no more. He died November 3, 1940 in Dobbs Ferry, New York.
Eadweard muybridge
Eadweard Muybridge was a a Photographer that mostly worked with motion. Before that he was an immigrant living in america as a bookseller. He was born on April 9, 1830 in Kingston upon Thames, United Kingdom. He is mostly known for being the first to ever capture a frame by frame motion of a object moving (a horse), but he can also be known for his picture of Yosemite Valley in 1868 and others like it. In 1874 Eadweard was charged with murder for shooting his wives lover Major Harry Larkyns. He was set free by way of Justifiable Homicide. He died on May 8, 1904 in his home town.
Mathew Brady
Born on May 18, 1822 in Warren County, New York Mathew Brady was revolutionary in the making of filmed journalism. He was the son of immigrant parents and was the youngest of three children. At only 16 years old he was the assistant of a famed portrait painter William Page. Although he is known for his portraits of celebrities he is mostly known for the contribution he gave by filming the civil war and being the first to ever do anything like it. He continued his work with Paige while also opening an exhibit in Washington D.C in 1849 to share his adventure through the war. He spent in the whole war over $100,000 to make 10,000 plate pictures. He was even fortunate of meeting the woman that was to become his wife at that very exhibit, Juliet Handy. He died on January 15, 1896 in New York City, New York.
Dorothea Lange
Dorothea Lange was an Influential photographer and also a skilled painter. She is mostly known for her work with filming though. She can be credited with being one of the first famed documenters. She was born in Hoboken, New Jersey on May 26, 1895. She was the daughter of to immigrant German parents, although her father abandoned her and her mother when she was only 12. She went to Colombia University in New York and apprenticed there under Arnold Genthe. She later moved to San Francisco to open her own successful portrait studio. She died October 11, 1965 in San Francisco, California.
